South Korea qualified for the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup on Tuesday evening at the expense of Saudi Arabia. The South Koreans won on penalties at the Education City Stadium in the Qatari capital Doha, after the score was 1-1 after 120 minutes of football.

Abdullah Radif – who scored the opening goal just 34 seconds after coming on as a substitute – seemed to be the hero for the Saudis, until Cho tied the score in the ninth minute of added time.

During extra time, in which Gentenaar Hong came on, nothing changed in the score, so penalties had to be decided. The Saudis missed twice, Jürgen Klinsmann’s South Korea remained clear. Even before the penalty shootout had finally ended, Saudi national coach Roberto Mancini had seen enough. The Italian already walked towards the changing rooms.
