Women’s football has been on the rise for years. The best female football player of the past year has therefore been awarded on the Golden Shoe since 2016. But that not everyone follows women’s football as closely as it turned out during the award ceremony on Wednesday evening.
When Gilles De Bilde wanted to interview contender Sari Kees, the ex-top football player addressed his question to the table companion of the 21-year-old OH Leuven football star and revelation at the Red Flames. Both ladies obviously listened somewhat awkwardly and laughed at the question. De Bilde does not realize it at first, and asks the woman why she “laughs with it”, after which Kees made it clear that it was indeed she who stood between the lines.
