Cannonball from Kimmich saves point for Bayern, but Leipzig comes closer after 6-1 against Schalke

Joshua Kimmich scored the equalizer for Bayern Munich against FC Köln with a phenomenal long shot from about 25 meters in the 90th minute, keeping the Rekordmeister four points ahead in the Bundesliga.

The reigning champion had the most possession, but was less efficient than the opponent from Cologne. After barely four minutes, Ellyes Skhiri scored with a volley at the far post to make it 0-1 and that would almost last until the final whistle.

But Kimmich equalized with a great long shot in the last minute.

RB Leipzig won 6-1 against red lantern Schalke 04 and thus comes four points from Bayern. The numbers three to five, Frankfurt, Union Berlin and Freiburg, are currently six points behind Bayern Munich, but still have a game to go.

After a 7-1 defeat against Werder Bremen, Cologne was eager for revenge. They were always faster and sharper on the ball than Bayern, making it difficult for the home team to enter the penalty area.

Bayern tapped out of a different vein after the break and dominated the second half, but failed to score.

Substitute Thomas Müller had the best chance, but Marvin Schwaebe tipped his header over the crossbar in the 80th minute. Nevertheless, the goalkeeper was still beaten when a cannonball from Kimmich entered via the crossbar.
