Another bigger jackpot for Westerlo: Burnley pays 11 million (!) plus bonuses for Lyle Foster

The transition from Westerlo attacker Lyle Foster (22) to Burnley is almost complete. The clubs have reached an agreement on a transfer of the South African attacker and the medical tests are scheduled for today. The numbers? They are to dizzy.

Westerlo hits the jackpot, that was already known. But the amount has risen even higher than expected. After long negotiations – the English second division team had been in talks with the Kempeners since last month – a transfer fee of 11 million euros has now been reached, which with bonuses can still rise to 14 million.

To be clear: that does not mean that 11 million will be added to Westerlo’s account. After all, Vitoria Guimaraes, Foster’s ex-club, enforced a resale percentage of 15 percent at the time and thus receives more than 1 million for the striker. But even then there is still a huge sum left and the bonuses are also achievable. If Burnley is promoted – and that almost certainly happens, with eighteen points ahead of the number three – they will already receive a 1 million bonus in ‘t Kuipje. The remaining 2 million depends on his performance.

Westerlo will soon be a good 10 million richer anyway. That is also what Vice President Hasan Cetinkaya, who is in charge of the sporting strings, initially counted on. Letting Foster – who has scored eight goals this season – leave was not ideal, but keeping him was unrealistic. Burnley pushed so hard to bring him in now, also to acclimate him to next season in the Premier League. It was not for nothing that Vincent Kompany came to take a look against Genk last week. Cetinkaya can therefore be proud of this outgoing transfer, which breaks all records in the Kempen. And who knows, more will emerge in the long term. This time it is Westerlo that stipulated another 15 percent on the resale. If he makes another top transfer in the future, it will pass the box office again.
