Kevin De Bruyne barely in the top three, a comfortable lead for Lionel Messi and in Finland they are fans of a South Korean: this is how they voted for the Ballon d’Or

What is clear from the full result: it was not that exciting at all between Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland. The Argentinian scored 462 points, Haaland got 357. A comfortable lead for Messi, who won his eighth Ballon d’Or.

The top 10

1. Lionel Messi: 462 points

2. Erling Haaland: 357 points

3. Kylian Mbappé: 270 points

4. Kevin De Bruyne: 100 points

5. Rodri: 57 points

6. Vinicius Junior: 49 points

7. Julian Alvarez: 28 points

8. Victor Osimhen: 24 points

9. Bernardo Silva: 20 points

10. Luka Modric: 19 points

We also now know which players each country chose in their top five. What is striking: in the Netherlands they are apparently still angry after the World Cup elimination against Argentina. Lionel Messi is only placed fourth there. Kevin De Bruyne is barely placed in the top three: ‘KDB’ only appears in the top three eleven times in 92 countries. In Finland they are fans of a South Korean: Kim-Min-Jae (Bayern Munich) is put in fourth place by the Finnish journalist. That is better than in South Korea itself: they place their star defender in fifth place.

Even more striking: Bernardo Silva is voted first by one country. Through Portugal, how could it be otherwise…
