Brian Riemer moves rest day at Anderlecht after defeat against Standard (but that is not a punishment)

He couldn’t leave the situation blue-blue. After the 3-2 defeat at Standard, Brian Riemer postponed the rest day at Anderlecht and ordered his players to come to Neerpede.

It was Sunday around 10:30 PM that Brian Riemer sent a message in the WhatsApp group of players and staff at Anderlecht. Everyone was expected at the practice complex in Neerpede on Monday, while a rest day was actually planned. Some thought they would have to undergo punitive training, but that was not the case.

Brian Riemer moved the rest day to Tuesday and wanted everyone at the club to discuss as quickly as possible what exactly had gone wrong at Standard. Mentally nothing was allowed to linger. First there was a practice session on the program. It was no different than usual: a run-out training for those with a lot of playing minutes, a normal training for the others.

This was followed by a long group session. The coaching staff was not fierce or intense. It was very strongly emphasized what work needs to be done to reach the level of play that the Jesper Fredberg-Brian Riemer duo are aiming for. Such a setback as in the second half against Standard must be avoided, especially because Anderlecht was also less good after the break against Club Brugge, Genk and also KV Mechelen.
