Rafael Nadal admits he’s not feeling 100% as he prepares for Indian Wells: “I can’t deceive myself or my fans”

The 22-time Grand Slam winner hoped to make his comeback at the highest level after a lot of injuries. Last weekend he played an exhibition match in Las Vegas against his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz. Afterwards, Nadal said that the match had gone “better than expected”.

But now Nadal has announced that he does not feel ready to play at the highest level. “It is not an easy, but a tough decision and I cannot lie to myself and the thousands of fans,” he said on X, formerly Twitter. “Everyone knows how much I love this place and how much I love playing here. That is also one of the reasons why I came to the desert very early to practice and prepare.”
