Philadelphia has recorded a narrow 112-113 victory over the LA Lakers in the NBA. Joel Embiid came out victorious in a top duel with LeBron James, who could not take the defeat. Chicago, meanwhile, could count on an impressive Nikola Vucevic (43 pts) in the 132-118 victory against Golden State.

Joel Embiid was good for 35 points and 11 rebounds in Los Angeles and was excellently assisted by Russell Westbrook. He delivered a triple-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. James Harden (24 pts and 13 assists) was also at the appointment.

LeBron James couldn’t hide his frustration. The Lakers superstar stormed straight to the dressing rooms afterwards. He reached 35 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds, but that was not enough for the home team. James did reach the 38,000 NBA point mark in his career on Sunday. He is 364 points behind record holder Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). In a month’s time, he should be able to overtake the now 75-year-old NBA legend.

The Lakers are left in the doldrums because of the defeat. After nineteen games, they are only thirteenth in the west. The win moves the Sixers up to fourth in the East, tied with number three Milwaukee. Brooklyn is second only to the two after the 102-112 loss to Oklahoma City.

It was the Nets’ second loss in a row without the knee-sucking Kevin Durant. Kyrie Irving (15 pts) was also disappointing. Worn by Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (both 28pts), the Thunder climbs to 11th in the west after a third win in a row.

New York was also able to win for the third time in a row. The Knicks defeated Detroit 104-117 thanks to 42 points by Julius Randle and are sixth in the East.

In Chicago, Nikola Vucevic was the hero of the evening. He tied his personal best with 43 points and added 13 rebounds. Zach LaVine had 27 points and 9 rebounds for his side. The Bulls beat a doubting Golden State 132-118. Klay Thompson (26 pts) pulled himself out of the battle with the visitors, Stephen Curry (20 pts) lacked regularity. The champion is only eighth in the west after her fourth defeat in five matches. Chicago, which started without the injured DeMar DeRozan, is tenth in the East.

Finally, the LA Clippers, sixth in the west, settled Houston 121-100 thanks to an excellent last quarter (30-10). Kawhi Leonard (30 pts) was the star.
