The Belgian Yanina Wickmayer (WTA 322) won the ITF tournament in the Estonian capital Tallinn (hard / 40,000 dollars) on Sunday. The 33-year-old Wickmayer faced the Macedonian third seed Lina Gjorcheska (WTA 170) in the final. Wickmayer was leading 6-1 and 2-0 when her opponent threw in the towel. It is her first singles victory since her comeback in 2021 after pregnancy.

Yanina Wickmayer, who jumps to 279th place in the WTA ranking on Monday, has thus won her 12th ITF title of her career, the first since 2018. Wicky continues her steady path up the WTA ranking. Due to her ranking position, she will not be allowed to participate in the Australian Open next week, but hopes to qualify for the other Grand Slams this year.
The former number 12 in the world (in 2010) has five WTA titles on her record. In April 2021 Wickmayer gave birth to a baby girl, she celebrated her comeback at the beginning of last year. In September 2022, she also won the WTA doubles tournament in Seoul together with the Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic.
