Try not to worry too much about the whole circus. That is Jan Vertonghen’s aim now that Anderlecht is once again in dire straits. “I try to shut myself off from it, I just come here to play football,” he says.
“I am confident that the people who decide it have the best intentions for Anderlecht.” At the same time, Vertonghen does stand up for his now non-executive chairman. Not illogical, because it is Vandenhaute who brought him in. “I already knew Wouter before he worked at Anderlecht,” says the Red Devil. “He’s just a super fan. Just like everyone else, he wants Anderlecht to get back to where it should be. I hope everyone realizes that.”(mah)
