Scoring three times after such a long absence, it was a dream debut for Sébastian Haller on Friday. The 28-year-old played between minutes 60 and 90, but scored a real hat trick in that half hour. And that in a time frame of just seven minutes. The match eventually ended in a heavy 6-0 pandering for FC Basel.

The former Ajax player himself was also delighted with his return: “Come back, score goals, help the team and notice every day that your body is improving. I couldn’t have asked for more,” Haller said on the website of the German team.

“I hope I can be of value to the team,” the Ivorian continues. “The fact that everyone was so happy for me is a sign of our team spirit. Whatever happens on the pitch, we don’t lose sight of the fact that we are all human and support each other. They knew I hadn’t had it easy. I’m glad they were so happy for me. I hope I can score more goals for them.”
