Ticket for the Olympic Games and advantage in European Championship qualification: this is what is at stake for the Red Flames

The Red Flames face Scotland (December 1) and the Netherlands (December 5) for their final two group matches in the Nations League. In addition to group profit, this is still at stake.

Not only the group win is at stake for the Red Flames during this international match. Our national team can also get a ticket for next summer’s Olympic Games and gain an advantage for the European Championship qualification. The Flames are still participating in division A of the Nations League for the Final Four. If they become group winners, they will advance to the semi-finals and possibly even the final in February next year. That would mean that the Red Flames will get a ticket for the Games in Paris. The finalists of this first edition of the Nations League qualify for the Games. If France, as host country of the Games, becomes a Nations League finalist, third place in the Final Four will also be sufficient for an Olympic ticket.

To have an advantage in qualifying for the European Championship in 2025, the Red Flames must maintain their place in division A of the Nations League. Then they are assured of a place in the European Championship qualifications. This means that they could well finish first or second in their group of death with Scotland, the Netherlands and England. Otherwise, relegation to division B of the Nations League threatens and a place in the European Championship qualifying suddenly becomes uncertain.
