“It goes without saying that the draw was not a gift,” explains Zanevska. “Kudermetova is an excellent player. She has become very complete. She doesn’t really have any weaknesses. Kudermetova is in the top 10 and there is a reason for that. Anyway, this is a grand slam tournament with the best tennis players in the world. If you want to shine here, you have to be able to beat the best. It will be a challenge, I am looking forward to it.”
Maryna Zanevska and Veronika Kudermetova face each other for the third time on the WTA circuit. At the last US Open, Kudermetova made it easily in the second round: 6-2, 6-3. “I played her at Flushing Meadows, where it was obviously a tough game,” said Zanevska. “I will do everything I can to take revenge. I know I will have to be not only aggressive so she can’t impose her will, but also very solid. It’s going to be a tough match. It will be exciting, because I will definitely play on an important court with a lot of spectators. It will be worth it no matter what.”
