With qualification for the cup final in the back pocket, Club YLA is preparing for ten tough matches in Play-off 1. After the inevitable division of points, blue-black is six points behind leading duo OH Leuven and Standard, and five points behind Anderlecht, the opponent on Saturday afternoon.

Lots of smiling faces at training at Club YLA this week after qualifying for last weekend's cup final. “You indeed felt a very positive vibe during training, but we turned the switch very quickly,” emphasizes wing player Angel Kerkhove. “The fact that we already have that ticket for the cup final in our pocket gives us a confidence boost for the play-offs. We are facing ten very intense matches, but I have the feeling that we are more ready for that than ever.”

Blauw-zwart starts Play-off 1 on Saturday afternoon with a move to Anderlecht. “We already played a draw against the Purple & White twice this season,” Angel Kerkhove remembers. “We learned from those matches that we have to be very alert and take advantage of the opportunities we get. In the first round we were 1-0 behind Anderlecht for a long time, but by continuing to fight for every ball until the end, we scored the equalizer. If we show that fighting mentality from minute one on Saturday, we will certainly be able to take at least a point to Bruges.”

“We don’t have to worry too much about the position at the moment”

Angel Kerkhove is in her third play-offs at Club YLA and hopes to do better again than last season. “The points were halved, which means that the gap with the top three in the rankings is certainly not unbridgeable. At the moment we don’t have to worry too much about the stand. Give everything in every match and then we’ll see where we end up. In any case, it promises to be a very exciting battle. It is clear that the top of women’s football in Belgium has become broader and I notice with my own eyes that the level has risen again this season.”
