Amadou Onana has the first goal for Everton, but loses basement squatter to red lantern Southampton

Amadou Onana has scored his first ever goal for Everton. In the league match against Southampton, the Red Devils opened the score before half time. Everton eventually went 1-2 in what was a crucial game in the battle for retention.

On a corner from Gray, the 1.95 meter tall Onana headed in unstoppably. The 21-year-old Onana exchanged Lille for Everton last year, which paid no less than 40 million euros for our compatriot. His athletic stature and great running ability made him immediately indispensable in coach Frank Lampard’s team.

Things went wrong for the home team in the second half. James Ward-Prowse scored twice and handed direct competitor Everton a painful home defeat. Incidentally, the Toffees’ board was not off to Goodison Park or failed due to a “real and credible threat to their safety” from fans dissatisfied with the performance.

Everton have lost their last four home games. It is the first time since September 1958 (!) that the club from London has recorded such a bad series at home. It remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard can stay on after this new defeat.

Southampton now has the same number of points as Everton due to the victory. Together with West Ham, both teams share last place. The trio has only fifteen points after 19 games.
