The Kempense eliminated Kimberley Zimmermann and the Ukrainian Nadiya Kichenok in the semifinals.

The only 37-year-old Flipkens put an end to her career in singles at Wimbledon in the summer of 2022, with a second round defeat against Simona Halep. She will still play in doubles. She previously won six titles in doubles, the last of which was in October last year with Siegemund in Cluj-Napoca. Before that she was the best in Seoul (in 2016 with the Swedish Johanna Larsson), in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (in 2017 with the Slovak Dominika Cibulkova), in Linz (in 2018 with Larsson), in Lugano (in 2018 with Elise Mertens) and in Mallorca (in 2019 with Larsson). In 2019 she also made it to the doubles final in Hobart, but then she lost to Larsson.
