‘The boss’. That is the title of the latest song by Colombian singer Shakira. A clear reference to her failed relationship with Spanish top footballer Gerard Piqué.

At the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday evening, Shakira announced that her latest song will be called ‘The boss’. The title is a reference to the alleged nickname that her ex Gerard Piqué’s friends had for her. In their eleven-year relationship, the comrades of the Spanish top footballer never managed to “click” with the singer and would have given her the nickname because of her “bad character”.

Later she also released a live version of ‘BZRP music sessions, Vol. 53’, a song she released at the beginning of this year and in which she also attacked her ex. “You exchanged a Rolex for a Casio,” she sings, among other things, referring to Piqué’s (multiple) adultery. Or: “I’m worth two 22-year-olds. You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo.”

In response, Piqué added fuel to the fire by suddenly appearing in a Twingo and concluding a sponsorship deal with Casio.
