Argentina faces a penalty for offensive behavior and breaching the principles of fair play. The press release does not specify which acts are involved, but goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez allowed himself to be photographed after the match when he made an obscene gesture with his trophy for best goalkeeper of the tournament. He was also filmed in the changing rooms making fun of Kylian Mbappé.
Croatia, on the other hand, faces a sanction for discrimination and disruption of order and security during the matches. Also in this case, FIFA did not provide any further details. The Croatian national team sang nationalist songs with fascist undertones during celebrations.
In the communiqué, FIFA also indicates that it will take measures against the Mexican, Ecuadorian and Serbian federations for discrimination and sung songs.
Mexico faces a fine of 99,600 euros and a match behind closed doors with a postponement, Ecuador threatens to have to cough up 19,900 euros and have to partially complete a match behind closed doors, while Serbia faces an amount of 49,800 euros and a match partly behind closed doors.
Seven Serbian players were also individually punished for their bad behavior in the group match against Switzerland.
