Luka Doncic helped Dallas in the NBA with a new ‘triple-double’ on Thursday against the LA Lakers. That required a double extension. It eventually became 115-119. Boston once again showed its quality with Brooklyn (98-109) and is the undisputed number one in the East.

Luka Doncic was gold for the Mavericks in Los Angeles with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists. Dallas held the lead for a long time, but a comeback from the Lakers led to overtime. Russell Westbrook (28 pts) was the top scorer for the home team. LeBron James just missed out on a triple-double with 24 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. The win puts Dallas in fourth place in the west, the Lakers dropping to thirteenth place.

In the top in the east, leader Boston settled on Thursday with number two Brooklyn. Six players with the Celtics scored double points. Jayson Tatum (20 pts) led the charge in the absence of Jaylen Brown (adductor injury). With the Nets, still without the knee-sucking Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving had 24 points.

Milwaukee missed the chance to catch up with Brooklyn and lost to Miami 108-102. Gabe Vincent (28 pts) and Bam Adebayo (24 pts) were the stars of the Heat. The Bucks were missing star player Giannis Antetokounmpo with a knee injury.

Philadelphia comes no further than fifth place after a 114-133 pandering against Oklahoma City. With the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was on a roll with 37 points. Joel Embiid’s 30 points and 10 rebounds weren’t enough for the Sixers. Cleveland secured fourth in the East thanks to a 113-119 victory at Portland. Damian Lillard’s 50 points couldn’t prevent a fifth straight loss for the Trail Blazers.
