However, the jury failed to reach a verdict on two other charges of rape and attempted rape after the six-month trial.

The prosecutor said he would seek a new trial for the last two charges. The 28-year-old French international defender, who has been suspended for more than a year by his club Manchester City, has been on trial at Chester Crown Court since early August. He was charged with seven counts of rape, one attempted rape and one assault.
