Manchester United has completed the arrival of Dutch international Wout Weghorst. The English top club rents the 30-year-old attacker from Burnley for the rest of the season. Weghorst played on loan for Turkish club Besiktas during the first part of the season.

The 19-time international of Orange (five goals) was rented out by Burnley to Besiktas for a year, but that agreement was dissolved this week when Manchester United reported. Trainer Erik ten Hag wanted to add a real striker to his selection after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Although Besiktas initially resisted, Weghorst is moving from Istanbul to Manchester. Weghorst had a good season at Besiktas, the current number 5 in Turkey.

The Dutch striker played a leading role during the World Cup in Qatar during the quarterfinals against Argentina. He leveled the Dutch with two late goals (2-2), after which he also used his penalty in the penalty shootout. Nevertheless, Argentina won, which then progressed to the world title.

Weghorst started his career in 2012 at FC Emmen, which played in the first division at the time. The striker then played for Heracles Almelo, AZ and the German club VfL Wolfsburg, after which he left for Burnley at the beginning of last year. After a disappointing six months and relegation from the Premier League, Weghorst was loaned to Besiktas last summer.
