Barcelona has reached the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The formation of trainer Xavi defeated Real Betis in the semi-final. That happened after penalties, 4-2. The opponent in the final is Real Madrid.

Barcelona took the lead just before the break. Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored in the rebound, after his first bet was bounced by a defender. Earlier, a hit by Pedri was disallowed. In the 77th minute it was equalized by a goal from Nabil Fekir. A few minutes later, Lewandowski struck again, but his goal was also rejected. In extra time, it continued to be the same. Ansu Fati gave Barcelona the lead again, this time the equalizer came from Loren Morón.
In the penalty shootout, Betis’ third penalty – taken by William Carvalho – was saved by Barça goalkeeper William Carvalho. At Barcelona, the four penalty takers scored: Lewandowski, Kessié, Ansu Fati and Pedri.
Real Madrid had already qualified for the final on Wednesday. The champion won thanks to goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois after penalties from Valencia.
