There will be some changes in the West Flemish volleyball landscape next season. Women’s sub-topper Hermes Oostende is moving to Roeselare, which wants to profile itself even more emphatically as the volleyball capital of the country.

From 1968 to 1992 and since 2008, Hermes Ostend has been a permanent fixture in the highest series in our country. The club won thirteen national titles and seven Belgian cups. In 2019 Hermes was still vice national champion, in 2019 and 2020 Hermes won the Belgian Cup. Because the board led by chairman Philippe Develter would no longer register a league team next season due to an option for other accents, sporting manager Lieven Louagie sought and found rapprochement with Bevo Roeselare, vice-leader in the first national, the second series.

volleyball collective Volley#VANRSL and are entering into an even closer collaboration with the aim of providing both clubs with growth potential and putting Roeselare even more emphatically on the map as the volleyball capital of Belgium. Both clubs will therefore not merge, but they will work together as much as possible under the flag of the new volleyball collective. The city of Roeselare also responded enthusiastically to the new plans of Knack and Bevo and pledged its full support. Hermes continues to volleyball girls in Ostend with his provincial women’s teams and youth teams.
