Romeo Beckham debuts for new club, but dad David is the big attraction when football icon sneaks out like a thief in the night

Romeo Beckham, son of former England international and Manchester United icon David Beckham, has made his debut for Brentford’s second team.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who was trained at Arsenal as a youngster, has maintained his fitness in America in recent months. There he played football in the second team of Inter Miami, which is partly owned by his father. Romeo Beckham joined the ranks of Fort Lauderdale CF in 2021, which was renamed Inter Miami II last year. The son of ‘Becks’ was briefly allowed to appear with the first team in a friendly against Barcelona in July.

But this week, Beckham made his first minutes for Brentford B, on the field of Erith & Belvedere. That is a club from the English ninth division. He came on in the second half from a 2-1 deficit and helped the ‘Bees’ to a 2-3 win in the London Senior Cup. The 554 supporters present, a record for Erith & Belvedere, therefore got their money’s worth.

Especially since David Beckham came to cheer on his son. Just about everyone wanted their picture taken with the football icon, who crawled over a fence afterwards and left like a thief in the night.
