Kristof D’Haene (32) hangs up his football boots at the end of this season. The Kortrijk defender has too much trouble with his hip, which he had been struggling with for a while. His contract, which ran for another year, will be terminated at the end of this season. “I’ve been thinking a lot lately,” D’Haene told KV Kortrijk’s website.

“For several years I have been struggling with my hip and the pain just won’t go away. Only my wife and my son Jérôme’ke see how much I suffer and at a certain moment you have to listen to your body. At the end of the season I will retire – with a heavy heart – from professional football. In the next six months I will do everything I can to keep KVK in first class,” says D’Haene.
The captain has been active at KV Kortrijk since 2015 and has defended the colors of KV Kortrijk 229 times and those of Cercle Brugge 177 times.
