At the side of the German Laura Siegemund, with whom she forms the first seed, Flipkens won 6-2 and 6-1 against the Australians Olivia Gadecki and Talia Gibson in the quarterfinals.

Earlier in the day, Zimmermann and her Ukrainian partner Nadiya Kichenok were 7-6 (7/3) and 6-2 too strong for Japan’s Miyu Kato and Indonesia’s Aldila Sutjiadi, who formed the third seed.

Gillé and Vliegen do not reach the semi-finals

Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen were unable to qualify for the doubles semi-finals in Auckland ($ 642,735) on Thursday. The Spaniard Marcel Granollers and the Argentinian Horacio Zeballos, second seed on the hard court in New Zealand, turned out to be a size too big. In 1 hour and 53 minutes they made it 7-10, 7-6 and 4-6.
