Last Friday, AA Gent posted a video of its U9 team, which caused a stream of racist reactions such as “formerly AA Gent, now FC Congo”. The club initially responded individually to the individual comments, but eventually decided to remove all comments to take offline.

“We did that because the video went viral and the reactions continued. The parents of the U9 players were immediately informed and briefed about our disapproval and the next steps, it says in a communiqué on the club website. “Meanwhile, our video remains online. Like our fans, we do not give in to racism.”
