Ysaline Bonaventure and Maryna Zanevska strand in Hobart in round two

Ysaline Bonaventure (WTA 92) and Maryna Zanevska (WTA 87) both failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 tournament in Hobart, Australia (hard/$259,303) on Wednesday.

Bonaventure had to bow to the American Lauren Davis (WTA 84) in two sets in the second round, after 1 hour and 42 minutes the 7-6 (7/1), 6-3 set positions were on the tables.

For a place in the semi-finals, Davis will play against the winner of the duel between Alison Van Uytvanck (WTA 70) and the Chinese Wang Xinyu (WTA 89). That party will take place later in the day.

Last week, Bonaventure reached the semi-finals of a WTA tournament for the first time in her career in Auckland.

Zanevska was also eliminated in the second round. The qualifying player, who had beaten Elise Mertens (WTA 27) a round earlier, lost in two sets to the American Sofia Kenin (WTA 280). It became 6-2 and 6-3 after 1h08.
