Real Madrid advanced to the Spanish Super Cup final after penalties against Valencia, Eden Hazard on the bench for the entire match

Real Madrid beat Valencia on penalties in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup in the Saudi capital Riyadh. After extra time it was still 1-1, after which Real won 4-3 in the penalty shootout. The final follows on Sunday, against the winner of the game between Real Betis and Barcelona on Thursday.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring from the spot in the first half after provoking the penalty himself. Already his tenth goal for Real Madrid this season, but right at the start of the second half Valencia came alongside through Samuel Lino. Both teams were out of the dressing room for less than half a minute when Lino outwitted a strong Thibaut Courtois on a cross at the far post.

In regular time it remained 1-1 and no more goals were scored in extra time. In the end, Real Madrid came out on top after penalties. Eden Hazard remained glued to the bench for an entire game.
