What a discharge! KV Kortrijk takes the victory at OH Leuven in the 92nd minute and climbs away from the relegation zone

Take revenge. That was the intention at OH Leuven after the surprising cup elimination about three weeks ago against KV Kortrijk. Command failed. The Guys came out victorious again after a late goal and are jumping out of the last three for the first time in eight games. OH Leuven tumbles out of the top eight.

After victories against OH Leuven and Genk, it was no surprise that Bernd Storck stuck to his recipe for success: aggressiveness and high pressure. The fact that Kortrijk had four absentees with Keita, Dessoleil, Kadri and Messaoudi did not change Storck’s intentions. OH Leuven couldn’t figure it out, until after nine minutes they succeeded and a goal immediately followed. Tamari chased the 1-0 with a wonderful shot in the short corner.

While the game got a bit stuck in midfield, the team from Leuven received a solid blow after half an hour. Strong holder Maertens had to leave the field injured with what at first sight appeared to be a serious foot injury, he also left the stadium on crutches afterwards. Schrijvers came to replace him, but OHL was unrecognizable after the failure of his turntable. With the break in sight, Kortrijk came more into the game. The equalizer followed before the break in a bizarre phase in which Avenatti crossed, but no one touched the ball, which flew loose against the nets.

Storck wins everything

Immediately after the break, Holzhauser, who had received a rare starting place, almost made it 2-1. He curled a free kick onto the post. The goal eventually fell on the other side. Selemani put De Norre aside and served Sych, who made it 1-2 with the help of a deviation from Ricca. (Read more below the photo)

OHL seemed upset and didn’t finish much, but still scored. Holzhauser painted a corner on the head of Patris, who towered over everyone and headed the equalizer in goal. And yet Kortrijk emerged as the winner at Den Dreef for the second time in three weeks. Avenatti made it 2-3 in stoppage time. Bernd Storck has won everything for the time being as trainer of Kortrijk, which comes out of the last three. The people of Leuven tumble out of the top eight after a second defeat in three weeks against the Guys. Time for reflection.
