Serbia will also participate in the European Championships in Germany next summer. The Serbs only needed a draw against Bulgaria on Sunday afternoon and that was what they achieved in the Dubocica Stadium in Leskovac (2-2).

Belgian referee Erik Lambrechts saw how the Serbs monopolized the ball from the start and took a well-deserved lead after fifteen minutes through Milos Veljkovic, who was in the right place to head an initially reassuring 1-0. On the other side, Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (ex-Standard) remained idle until Bulgarian captain Kiril Despodov cut in from his left flank and blasted the ball onto the crossbar from outside the box.

The Serbs rested too much on their laurels after the break and simply allowed the Bulgarians to come alongside through Georgi Rusev (59.). Dragan Stojkovic’s men panicked and conceded a second goal ten minutes later through Despodov. Srdjan Babic (82.) made the home fans breathe a sigh of relief by nodding another corner into the Bulgarian goal.

At the same time, Hungary kept the points at home against Montenegro (3-1). Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai (67. and 68.) erased the opening goal of Slobodan Rubezic (36.) with two goals in two minutes, and in the end Adam Nagy (90+3.) completed it completely.

In group G, Hungary is the group winner with eighteen points, not enough to be allowed to enter the trophy as a seed during the draw on December 2. The Serbs can go to the final round as second, the Montenegrins have to settle for third place. Lithuania finishes fourth with six points, the Bulgarians count fifth and the latter two points less.
