The last game of the twelfth matchday of the BetFirst BNXT League brought Charleroi a fourth consecutive win. The Spirous won 80-66 against Brussels, which only had seven players. With 8 out of 12, Charleroi is firmly in the top three and unofficially in first place. Ostend and Kangoeroes Mechelen count one less defeat and have played one less match.

No DJ Laster yet, the new American power forward at Brussels, who also missed Terry Deroover and Jaylin Airington, among others. However, coach Jean-Marc Jaumin’s team was not impressed and almost constantly led the scoreboard in the first half. Via Ferdinand Zylka, Sergio Llorente and Joel Ekamba, after a 20-21 score, it went to a 32-41 bonus halfway for the club from the capital.

Charleroi came out of the dressing room sharper and via Bine Prepelic (11 points, 9 rebounds), Marlon Makwa, Yannick Schoepen and Nathan Kuta the game turned. The Carolos won the third slide with a 22-13 score and found the connection: 54-61.

In the final quarter, Brussels naturally fell silent and gasped. That’s all the team of coach Sam Rotsaert needed to collectively push through to an 80-66 victory after 64-61 and 73-62. Charleroi won the second half against a tired Brussels 48-25 and dominated the rebound (40-32). With 2 out of 12, Brussels remains in last place.
