Dries Mertens triumphs against Michy Batshuayi: Galatasaray is too strong for Fenerbahce in Turkish top

Galatasaray remained in control in the lion’s den on Sunday evening on the eighteenth matchday of the Super Lig Fenerbahçe. The topper turned out to be 0-3.

On fifteen minutes, Abdulkerim Bardakci’s opening goal was still rejected, but just past the half hour, Sergio Oliveira (ex-KV Mechelen) was allowed to clench his fist. Late in the second half, Kerem Akturkoglu cleared the last doubts and deep into added time Mauro Icardi turned the knife even deeper into the wound for Fenerbahce.

Michy Batshuayi was sent off in the 69th minute, while Dries Mertens left the playing field on the other side a minute later.

With the prestigious victory, Gala with 39 points opens a four-point gap to Fenerbahce at the top of the Turkish first division standings.
