The 28-year-old from Liège lost in the semi-finals twice 6-3 in 1 hour and 7 minutes against the 23-year-old Spanish Rebeka Masarova (WTA 130). Both came out of the qualifiers. The Spanish had won their only previous meeting in October last year, in the final of the ITF tournament in Hamburg (6-4, 6-3).

In the final, Masarova will play against the American first seed Coco Gauff (WTA 7), who in her semifinal easily defeated the Montenegrin seventh seed Danka Kovinic (WTA 60) in two sets: 6-0 and 6-2.

For Bonaventure, it would have been the first time she had reached the final of a WTA tournament. She has already won two titles in doubles (in 2015).
