Inter, with substitute Romelu Lukaku, relinquishes victory against PhD candidate Monza in the final phase

Inter did not get further than a 2-2 draw at Monza on Saturday evening on the seventeenth matchday in Serie A.

Romelu Lukaku had surprisingly started on the bench for the visitors, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez were preferred in the front by coach Simone Inzaghi. From the bench he saw that three times had already been scored halfway through the first half. In the tenth minute, Matteo Darmian made it 0-1 with a ticker at the far post, but Monza equalized immediately after kick-off. Patrick Ciurria curled the ball beautifully into the far corner with his left. The 1-2 was already made halfway through the first half by Lautaro Martínez, who took advantage of fumbling in the defense of the home team.

Ten minutes into the second half, Big Rom was allowed onto the field for Dzeko, but it was another substitute who would take the lead for Inter. Thanks to an own goal by the Dutchman Denzel Dumfries, they relinquished the victory deep into added time.

For Inter it was only the first draw of the season. The Milanese, fourth in Serie A, resumed the competition on Wednesday with a 1-0 win against leader Napoli, who are 7 points behind.
