A remarkable message about Naomi Osaka. The Japanese tennis star, who would participate in the Australian Open starting on January 16, would have been removed from the list of participants.

Australian media reported on Friday that, although Osaka is on the official list of participants for the tournament, the Japanese former world number 1 will not play at Melbourne Park, according to the organization.

Earlier on Friday, the German Bild already wrote that Osaka could not be reached and could not be found for the organization of the first grand slam tournament of the year. It was not even clear whether the Japanese would stay in Australia at all. Recent Instagram posts by 25-year-old Osaka show that she has been to Paris and the United States, but she had not yet provided updates from Australia via her social media channels.

After her participation in Roland Garros in the summer of 2021, Osaka took a break in her career because she wanted to work on herself and her mental health.
