After 8.5 years, 356 matches and five titles, Ruud Vormer moved to Zulte Waregem, but Club Brugge still wants to give the icon a worthy farewell. And that will be one of size. On Sunday, January 15, the Dutchman kicks off against arch-rival Anderlecht, the team where he was so often booed. But also the team that he humiliated at home with, among other things, 4-0 (championship match in 2016) and 5-0 (in 2017). Vormer also became extremely popular with the Bruges fans due to the ‘destroy it’ statement after that forfait score against the Purple & White.
And Club Brugge has a nice extra in store. “Because Ruud was one of the faces of one of the most successful periods in Bruges’ history, Club also wants to give him a dignified farewell in Jan Breydel, which is filled to the brim”, it sounds there.
