The ‘Greek Freak’ remains supreme at the start of the new year: after 45 and 43 points respectively against Chicago and Minnesota to close 2022, he passed the fifty point mark against the Wizards. He set a personal best with 55 points.
“I tried to make the right decisions, play aggressively all the time, and do everything for the team to win,” said Antetokounmpo after his new shining performance. “I work hard. Many people find my game boring, but I do everything I can to get better.”

The win keeps Milwaukee in third place in the east and narrows the gap for the Bucks with runner-up Brooklyn, who did a good job without playing. After all, leader Boston surprisingly lost to Oklahoma, which is only in twelfth place in the west and also had to do without its best player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was ill. In his absence, it was Josh Giddey (25 points) who led OKC to a new club record of points scored in a single game, since moving from Seattle in the 2008/09 season. Jaylen Brown (29 points) and Jayson Tatum (27 points) couldn’t make the difference for the Celtics.

In Tuesday’s third game, Sacramento narrowly beat Utah (117-115), thanks to 37 points from De’Aaron Fox. Lauri Markkanen came to 28 points at Utah. Utah seemed to force extra time on the buzzer, but that score was rejected after a review.
