Antwerp will have to make do without Alhassan Yusuf (23) for a while after the winter break. The midfielder was initially not part of the Nigerian selection for the upcoming Africa Cup, but due to an injury to Wilfred Ndidi, the Antwerp midfielder was picked up by national coach José Peseiro.

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, ex-Genk) will not be fit in time for the Africa Cup, meaning Alhassan Yusuf can still prepare for his first major tournament with Nigeria.

The Super Eagles will face Equatorial Guinea (14/1), Ivory Coast (18/1) and Guinea-Bissau (22/1) in the first round. As a result, Yusuf will certainly miss the cup match against OHL (17/1) and the league match against Charleroi (21/1).

If Nigeria advances further in the tournament – the final is scheduled for February 11 – then coach Mark van Bommel at Antwerp will no longer be able to call on his Nigerian mileage eater.
