CONFERENCE LEAGUE. It was not nice or deserved, but Ajax advanced after extra time

Seven games are scheduled for Thursday evening in the interim round of the Conference League.

Of the matches in the evening, Ajax’s was particularly appealing. The team from Amsterdam went to Norway with a 2-2 for the meeting with the dangerous Bodø/Glimt. And Ajax was outplayed for almost an entire match in the Aspmyra Stadium. Once the visitors shot between the posts and it was also scored via Steven Berghuis.

Glimt diligently looked for the equalizer and received a boost just after half-time after a red card for Josip Sutalo. But fifteen minutes later Albert Gronbaek also had to go to the side with a red card: ten against ten.

Yet the Norwegians evened the score with a striking shot from captain Patrick Berg. In the 95th minute they even seemed to score the winning goal, but Ulrik Saltnes’ goal was disallowed for offside. And so it had to be extended.

Glimt was also the best team in extra time… and yet Ajax won qualification in a match with less than 40 percent ball possession. After a corner, the ball came to Kenneth Taylor and he kicked a cross that fluttered into the goal at the far post: 1-2. Ajax then got away well when Glimt kicked the crossbar.

Other results:

Dinamo Zagreb – Betis Sevilla 1-1 (1-0)

Ludogorets – Napkins 0-1 (0-0)
