LeBron James leads LA Lakers to victory on his 38th birthday by 47 points

LeBron James put the dots on the i in the NBA on Friday on his 38th birthday. The star player of the LA Lakers was good for 47 points in the 121-130 win at Atlanta. That is his highest points this season. He also added ten rebounds and nine assists to narrowly miss a triple-double. Despite their fifteenth victory, the Lakers remain far outside the playoff places for the time being.

Only Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Jamal Crawford have also ever managed to score at least 45 points in an NBA game when they were 38 or older.

In addition to James, there were four players on Friday who scored forty points or more in the NBA. Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee with 43 points and 20 rebounds to a 123-114 win against Minnesota. CJ McCollum, for his part, accounted for 42 points, including eleven 3-pointers, in New Orleans’ 127-116 win over Philadelphia. It is the fifth win in a row for the Pelicans, the best team in the west. Zach LaVine scored 43 points for Chicago, which beat Detroit 132-118, and Jordan Poole used 41 points for Golden State. The Warriors defeated Portland 118-112.
