Sergio Ramos and Dodi Lukebakio have to look for a new coach again: Sevilla fires Diego Alonso after just two months

Sevilla said goodbye to its coach Diego Alonso on Saturday evening, the Europa League winner announced via social media. The 0-3 defeat at home against Getafe was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the 48-year-old Uruguayan, who only took over from Luis Mendilibar in mid-October.

Alonso started his first coaching assignment in Europe in October. He was most recently national coach of Uruguay at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of last year, where he lost in the group stage with his home country. During that period, he led the club of Dodi Lukebakio and Adnan Januzaj to just two victories in the first and second rounds of the Copa del Rey.

Last week, European elimination followed a defeat against Lens (2-1) and after the defeat against Getafe, Sevilla is staggering in sixteenth place, just above the relegation zone in La Liga.
