Galatasaray took full advantage on Thursday afternoon visiting Sivasspor. Thanks to a goal in the first half from Dries Mertens, Galatasaray won 1-2.

It was Mertens who scored the opening goal just before the half hour mark. That score remained on the scoreboard for a long time. More precisely, until minute 80. Then Sivasspor equalized via Yesilyurt.

In a hectic injury time, in which the home team’s goalscorer received his second yellow card, Yilmaz still won the victory for Galatasaray, which is alone in the lead in the Turkish first division with 33 points. Michy Batshuayi’s Fenerbahce is one point behind.

Mertens seems to have found his feet in Istanbul with three goals so far. On Christmas Day he was also important with an assist.
