The first edition of the expanded World Cup for clubs, with 32 participating teams, will be organized in the United States in 2025. A year later, the US, together with Canada and Mexico, host the World Cup. This will then be organized for the first time with 48 countries, instead of 32.

“The Club World Cup will be the pinnacle of club football. With the United States we have found the ideal host for this new global tournament. They have the necessary infrastructure and the interest from the fans is huge,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Twelve European teams will participate in the new Club World Cup. Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City have already secured their place, as winners of the last three editions of the Champions League. There is not yet an exact date for the tournament. The focus is mainly on the summer of 2025. One year before the World Cup, the slot of the Confederations Cup will then be free. It was last organized in Russia in 2017.
