Bredene

The women’s team of KSV Bredene seems to be storming towards the title unthreatened with a seven-point lead over first pursuer Borsbeke. An exponent of the attacking wealth at Bredene was striker Machteld Vandenbroucke last weekend, who scored no less than ten (!) times.

With a crushing 0-13 victory against tail team Leeuw Brucom, the women of KSV Bredene further emphasized their title ambitions. Karim Stockx, who shares the role as T1 with Andy Vanhulle, saw how striker Machteld Vandenbroucke was once again unstoppable and shook the net no fewer than ten times. “We now know very well what Machteld is capable of, but scoring ten times is still a new achievement. When the ball comes into the box, she is always in the right place. Talk about instinct!”

“I have been working with Machteld for four years now and she continues to amaze me,” Stockx continues. “Apart from her many goals, she is first and foremost a real team player. She dedicates herself to the team and keeps her feet firmly on the ground. It really is a complete striker and I don’t think you’ll find five like that in Belgium. Do we not fear that a team from the higher tier will steal her away? Not at all, the commitment at Machteld is very high. Although I think she certainly has her place in the Super League, she is keen to make a difference with us in the first national next season.”

It can’t go wrong

Seven matchdays from the end of the competition, Karim Stockx can already smell the title and promotion to the first national team – the big goal. “Our program looks a lot more difficult than Borsbeke’s, but with a seven-point lead, things really can’t go wrong anymore. We have already started our homework for next season. The challenge is to keep our core together and, where possible, strengthen it in a targeted manner. We certainly want to have our say in the first national event and together with Andy, with whom I form a very complementary duo, I am really looking forward to that.”
