VIDEO. Arsenal players get into a fight with each other after blowing the whistle, but coach Mikel Arteta likes it: “I even encourage this kind of behavior”

Arsenal won 1-2 on Tuesday evening against low-flying Nottingham Forrest. The Gunners went to London with the hard-fought three points, but not everyone felt like celebrating. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ben White came to blows and had to be calmed down by coach Mikel Arteta, who could laugh about the incident between his players afterwards. “They push each other. I love that.”

0-2 ahead with a few minutes to go. There was no problem for Arsenal at the City Ground stadium, home to Nottingham Forest. Until Taiwo Awoniyi scored the tying goal in minute 89 and the Gunners were thus heading for an exciting final phase. Arteta’s troops eventually won, but the manner in which they did so still caused some frustration afterwards.

Colleagues Zinchenko and White each had a different view on the late goal, which made it unnecessarily exciting. The result: the Arsenal defenders started asking each other to tell their story, which led to a heated discussion. Coach Arteta had to calm things down and gave his view on the situation afterwards. “I love that. They expect more from each other and are not satisfied with the way we conceded the goal. They were just trying to work it out.”

“It was intense, but that shows that we didn’t play well enough. The score had to be higher,” continued the Spanish tactician, who elaborated further on the incident. “They push each other. In fact, I encourage this type of behavior, but it must be done in a proper and respectful manner. After a match the players are emotional, but I like that they set the bar high for each other.”
