Abandoned top match Ajax-Feyenoord will be played without an audience on Wednesday, but that is not to the liking of … Ajax

The top match in the Eredivisie between Ajax and Feyenoord, which was stopped three times and was ultimately abandoned, will be played on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The match was finally stopped in the 56th minute after fireworks were thrown for the second time from the box of Ajax’s hard core. Feyenoord was then 0-3 ahead.

Ajax is not happy with the decision. Normally they would play a competition match against Volendam on Wednesday evening at 9 p.m., but that match has now been postponed. “The competition and cup program is now being adjusted by the KNVB for four clubs due to the completion of an abandoned match. Not only the clubs, but also the supporters are victims of this. That is why Ajax is considering legal action.”

The fact that the match still has to be completed can also feel awkward for Feyenoord, which was 0-3 ahead and had complete control of the match. Since this season, it has also been the rule in Belgium that matches must be completed in case of a stoppage.

Last year, Anderlecht suffered a forfeit defeat when the match against Standard had to be stopped after more than an hour of play due to fireworks on the field, thrown by Anderlecht fans. Standard was 3-1 ahead at that moment.

Also in Amsterdam, disgruntled fans of one club – Ajax – were responsible for stopping the match. After the match, the disturbances continued. For example, the main portal of the Johan Cruijff Arena was stormed and destroyed by angry Ajax fans.

Controversial sporting director Sven Mislintat was fired on Sunday evening. The tweet of his dismissal was liked by several (former) players. Noa Lang, among others, gave a thumbs up.

In the meantime, Ajax has apologized in an email to the subscribers who were present in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

“The events in and around the Johan Cruijff ArenA created a very unpleasant situation yesterday afternoon. We sincerely apologize for this,” Ajax told fans in a personal email. “The concerns you have experienced in and around the stadium are very close to our hearts. Apologies again and thanks for your unconditional support”
