Young football fan risks a fine of 6,000 euros after finger between the buttocks of Sevilla player Lucas Ocampos

The young Rayo Vallecano supporter who stuck a finger between the buttocks of visiting player Lucas Ocampos during a throw-in early last week during the league match against FC Sevilla, risks a fine of 6,000 euros.

The committee against violence in sports announced this decision during a session on Wednesday. In addition, a stadium ban of twelve months was also demanded. The committee cannot impose sanctions itself, but it can propose them to the competent authorities.

The remarkable incident was broadcast live on Spanish television last Monday evening and caused outraged reactions in the local media. FC Sevilla condemned the young supporter’s action as “obscene and unacceptable” and demanded action from La Liga.

Victim remained icy calm

Ocampos said after the match that he hoped there would be a response. “I hope La Liga takes this as seriously as racism and other issues. I don’t believe all the people of Rayo are like that, we have always been treated with respect here. But there is always a fool.” Ocampos also wondered “what the consequences would be if this were to happen in women’s football”.

After the incident, the 29-year-old player turned towards the young supporter on the pitch, but kept his composure and called the referee. In his own words, Ocampos held back “because he has two daughters.” “I hope something like this never happens to them,” he further added.

Rayo chairman Raúl Martín Presa immediately announced on Spanish TV that he condemned the groping and promised that action would follow. “We will identify the fan, his season ticket will be revoked and we will impose a stadium ban and a fine on him. The club is not at fault and should not be punished.”
