Two young Belgian attackers excelled in the Champions League match between RB Leipzig and Manchester City. First Loïs Openda showed off his calling card with a goal after he had also scored in the top match against Bayern Munich last weekend in the Bundesliga. Yet another Red Devil played a starring role: substitute Jérémy Doku first provided an assist to Julian Alvarez for the 1-2 and then topped it all off with the 1-3.
Openda was completely under pressure with his team RB Leipzig against Manchester City when he bounced well off Yussuf Poulsen and the Dane immediately stabbed him deep. The 23-year-old Belgian attacker cleverly fought off defender Manuel Akanji before putting the ball into the goal via the far post, making it 1-1.
Earlier, Manchester City had made it 0-1 through a goal from Phil Foden. For Openda it was already his fifth goal of the season.
However, that would ultimately yield nothing for Leipzig: City substitute Jérémy Doku found Julian Alverez on the edge of the sixteen in the final phase, who turned the ball into the far corner for the 1-2. Deep into injury time, the Red Devil topped it off by putting the 1-3 past Leipzig goalkeeper Blaswich on the counter.
