VIDEO. Goal from former target Club Brugge and Antwerp causes all hell to break loose: chairman storms onto the pitch and punches referee in the face

Confusion in the Super Lig. After the match between Ankaragücü and Rizespor, the home team chairman punched referee Halil Umut Meler, who was injured.

The match in the Eryaman Stadium in Ankara was on the fifteenth matchday in the Turkish top football class. The home team seemed to be on their way to three much-needed points after an early goal from Olimpiu Morutan. Shortly after the break, however, Ankaragücü fell with ten and in the 97th minute Adolfo Gaich (once almost from Club Brugge and Antwerp) tied the score: 1-1.

Not much later the final whistle blew, after which Umut Meler was attacked by Faruk Koca. The chairman of Ankaragücü raised his fist and hit the referee in the eye. Umut Meler fell to the ground and received a few sharp kicks, after which he was able to get up and the incited Koca was led away.

Not much later, the chairman of the Turkish Football Association condemned the facts. He vowed that “all involved will pay for this.” The Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc, also responded quickly. According to him, an investigation was started immediately.
